Mac Natural Lip Liner

Soar is my favorite lip pencil from MAC, it’s a great color for those everyday natural pink lip colors we love to wear. It’s the type of color you can wear with lots of different pink tones. I love to pair Soar with colors from MAC like Mehr, Faux, Brave and Please me. Pretty much any pink that us. Mac Red Lipstick + Brick Lip Liner: This is my favorite classic red. Mac Red has a satin finish and is such a great bold color. I wear it with brick lip liner for a tiny bit of a darker contrast around the edges. Great for parties, the holidays, and if you’re going for a more glamorous look. Lipstick: the iconic product that made MAC famous. Shade, define, and accentuate the lips with hundreds of hues in high-fashion textures.

Auburn lipliner is one of my favourite MAC lip liners! It looks great with red, terracotta, peach and netural shades. Its a liner I use to mix with many different lipsticks. Recently, I've been using Auburn with Ravishing lipstick by MAC - the combination is just so lovely and perfect for both a day and evening look. Ravishing is in the warm coral family and Auburn is a reddish-orange-brown shade, so the mixture of these two shades is perfection on anyone with a warmer skintone. Its also a great 'coral-red' for summer!!!
For this look I started with my basic face (tinted moisturizer, concealer, powder). I then used Bobbi Brown's Tawny blush as a contour, Makeup FOr Ever #10 gold shadow as a highlight (and eyeshadow base shade) and MAC's Melba blush. I then applied MAC's Soba shadow from lid to crease and lined the top lasline with Make Up for Ever 5L eyeliner (an olive shade) and smudged NARS glapagos into the lashline. I applied Laura Mercier's Brown Copper to the lower lashline before finishing with mascara. I then lined my lips with Auburn lipliner and topped it off with Ravishing Lipstick (both MAC)!!!

Seeing as how brown lipsticks are trending right now, I thought I would introduce one of my new favorite lip colors – and compare it to it’s NYX dupe. Most MAC lipliners seem to have a similar color in the NYX line of lipliners, and after doing some research, word on the street is that the NYX liner in ‘Natural’ is a dupe for MAC’s ‘Stripdown’.

Personally, I don’t think these two liners are that close in color. ‘Natural’ is described as a deep-toned beige, while MAC describes ‘Stripdown’ as a creamy brown-beige.

As you’ll see from the above swatch, “Natural” definitely has more warm pink undertones, while ‘Stripdown’ is much more of a browny-beige. Both liners have great pigmentation and a similar creamy texture, making them both easy to apply.

As I’ve said in prior MAC/NYX dupe posts, the biggest difference between them is the price point. MAC lipliners run for $16, while NYX lipliners are only $3.50.
